Injury Boost: Two Chelsea Stars Set For Premier League Return

COVID 19 saw the game we all love, football, take an unprecedented break. For two months, top leagues were on a break as countries went on lockdown. Now it’s back in nearly all European countries. The English Premier League is set for a return on the 17th of June.

Although this would be around the time the teams would be on a race to finish the league-high, they are simply resuming to midseason action. But still, the stakes couldn’t be higher. For Chelsea, it a battle to finish in the top four. And Man United, with only a three-point disadvantage, is now having Chelsea get comfortable.

Just before the premier League was halted, Chelsea was not doing so well. In its last 7 outings, the team had managed only two wins. This was major because of injuries to Lampard’s young team. After weeks of resting and treatment, a number is back to fitness and will be ready to play once the Premier League resumes on June 17th.

Two key Chelsea players are among those expected back. Ruben Loftus Cheek is one of them. The attacking midfielder has been suffering from a long term injury incurred last year.

The midfielder was in Sarri’s era showing real promise getting in a few goals and assists during his few appearances. Since Lampard took charge, the player has not appeared in any competitive match.

Just before the break, he was already well and ready for training. Now, the player has been pictured training with the team and is set for a return. He will be a major boost for Lampard who has been calling for ruthlessness in the final ball.

Premier League Return: Attack, And Again

Another key player is Christian Pulisic. After struggling at the start of the season to get a place in Lampard’s first eleven, Pulisic had convinced his coach and the world he belonged. But just as he got comfortable, he got an injury that saw him seat out a number of games and if it were not for the break, he was set to miss out a couple of more.

With the break, Pulisic has healed and he as well has been pictured training with the team. His Premier League Return is also a boost to Lampard’s attacking tactic with more goals and final ball contributions expected from the American.

Not All Is Good…

But COVID 19 has however taken a hit at the squad with Kante missing out due to infection fears. Most recent reports show that he is missing out training meaning he could further miss returning to the pitch.

The confirmed Hodson Odoi, who caught the infection and fully recovered on the other hand is training with the team and is ready to face Aston Villa which will be Chelsea’s first return game.
