Arsenal players in Isolation- CoronaVirus fear, game canceled

The game between Manchester City and Arsenal postpones again due to fear of coronavirus infection. Arsenal FC released a statement saying the match postponement is for “as a precautionary measure”. Few of Arsenal players are in isolation.

Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis met several players in the game played at emirates. Marinakis contracted the coronavirus and as a precautionary measure, the players who met with him now in isolation for 2 weeks in their homes for two weeks.

“We identified that a number of players met the Olympiakos owner immediately following the game, …medical advice we have received puts the risk of them developing Covid-19 at extremely low. However, we are strictly following the government guidelines which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should self-isolate at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.”

The statement did not specify the names for the Arsenal players. The medical team and officials sitting next to him are also in isolation in their homes for two weeks. Until they confirm free from the virus they will remain in their homes.

“As a result, the players are unavailable for tonight’s match against Manchester City and the Premier League has decided the game should be postponed. The players will remain at their homes until the 14-day period expires. Four Arsenal staff, who were sitting close to Mr Marinakis during the match will also remain at home until the 14 days are complete.”

The game was set for toning at Etihad. This is the second time this fixture cancels. The fixture was initially set for game week 28. But, due to a short time flame between the other matches the game had to cancel.

How Isolated Arsenal Players Affects EPL

This is the first time the epidemic virus has affected the premier league directly. Barely weeks ago, in Italy Serie a, games like Juventus v inter Milan played without the presence of players in fear of spreading the virus.

If the number of Arsenal players in isolation is big, all the fixtures for arsenal may have to be postponed. At the very list for the next two weeks.

As to how many games will postpone, it’s still unclear.
